They live in a community within the compound of the city dump. Recycling plastic from the daily trash is their source of income. Essentially they survive daily life by what the rest of us throw away. Everyday life is surrounded by the decay of garbage in the melting heat of the Philippines. This is the only resource they have in which to sustain their families and feed their children. They tried a clean up effort here once. Not sure it accomplished much as the next day's trash covered even more of an area.
